WREFORD DONATE TREES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
Item dated 19/03/08
Wreford's Private Landscaping Manager, Amy Laurence, returned to Romsey Abbey Primary Church of England School today to donate some Hazel trees to the project funded by the National Lottery and Britain's Breathing Spaces Campaign. The visit follows the completion of works carried out by Wreford to conduct necessary preparation to enable pupils at the school to create the garden they helped design. Amy is pictured, alongside the first of the Hazel trees to be planted, with some of the pupils who have been involved with the wildlife-friendly project.

ANYONE GOT AN ARK?
Item dated 10/03/08
The weather had a wet surprise in store today for the Wreford Hedging and Topiary nursery at Ower, near Southampton. Gales, thunder, lightning and heavy rain resulted in the advance of the adjacent river. Fortunately the flood waters did not reach any further than the car park, though the river was dangerously close to the northern boundary fence. On the positive side, at least all of the plants had a good water.

EARLY KNOTWEED GROWTH
Item dated 26/02/08
At this time of year it is unusual to find Japanese knotweed emerging from its winter dormancy, particularly with the heavy frosts we've been experiencing around the UK. Where it has been sighted, growth is generally weak and consists of single stems. However, at one site in Croydon, a stand of knotweed has been taking advantage of the warmth provided by a nearby generator exhaust. With the winter frosts held at bay, the knotweed has been thriving and has established its new growth to a level approximately two months ahead of knotweed elsewhere!
PRESENTATION TO ROYAL INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SURVEYORS
Item dated 13/02/08
Wreford were asked to participate in a Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (South East) event. The invitation was to give a presentation on Japanese knotweed at the Annual Briefing of the Wessex Building Surveying Faculty, which took place at the Museum of Army Flying in Middle Wallop in Hampshire today. Jim Glaister of Wreford spoke for around 40 minutes on the issues knotweed presents, along with practical tips on how to identify the plant. The talk was well received and Wreford will be repeating their presentation at a similar RICS event in April to be held at Tunbridge Wells in Kent.
WREFORD ON "PROPERTY LADDER"
Item dated 09/01/08
Wreford appeared on Channel 4's popular Property Ladder programme last night. Sarah Beeny was visibly impressed by Wreford's planting scheme, completed for second time property developer Rebecca Lang, calling it "a fully functional space that can be enjoyed by children and grown-ups alike." This was a dramatic turnaround from the garden area when Ms Lang first purchased the property. The garden consisted of a steep slope up to a level area at about the height of the first floor of the house. As such it couldn't be further from the phrase 'child-friendly' if it tried! Sarah Beeny told Rebecca Lang at the outset that making this garden family-friendly would be the biggest challenge she faced in redeveloping and subsequently selling the property. At completion of the project, Ms Beeny admitted she felt this problem had been solved "with knobs on" and stated: "The garden is really probably the biggest achievement in this house."
